Olivet College to host presentation on women and the law

The Olivet College Betsy Dole Womens Resource Center will host a presentation by the Hon. Judge Denise Page Hood on women and the law, Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Mott Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. Hood serves as a U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of Michigan and has been a member of the Olivet College Board of Trustees since 2002. She is a graduate of Yale University and earned a law degree at Columbia University. Prior to becoming a federal judge, she served as a judge in the Wayne County Circuit Court, the Recorders Court for the city of Detroit and the 36th District Court for the State of Michigan. Hood began her professional career as an attorney with the city of Detroit. She is active in the Michigan Bar Association and the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, as well as numerous community organizations including the Lulu Belle Steward Center and the Cyprian Center. She is also the former moderator of the General Synod of the United Church of Christ (UCC) and of the UCC Michigan Conference. For more information, call (269) 749-6638. « Back
