Olivet College to hold auditions for “The Vagina Monologues”
Dec 15, 2006
Olivet College is presenting its third V-Day Olivet College, a fund-raising production of Eve Enslers The Vagina Monologues. The production, which is being performed as a benefit for the Siren/Eaton Shelter in Charlotte, will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at the Oaks Theatre. Auditions for the production will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 9-11, 2007, at 6 p.m. in the Margaret Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall. Auditions are open to women. As this is a one-time, benefit performance, memorization of lines is optional. Those wishing to audition should bring a short monologue to perform, preferably not from The Vagina Monologues. Director for this production will be Olivet junior Anabel Montalvo, a theatre/journalism major from Detroit. Joanne Williams, assistant professor of theatre and journalism/mass communications, is the producer. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit production of Enslers award-winning play. In 2006, more than 2,700 V-Day events were held. Olivet presents this benefit every other year in February. For information about auditions, call (269) 749-6630.
