Olivet College instrumental music students to perform in the 2007 Intercollegiate Honor Band

OLIVET, Mich. Nine Olivet College instrumental music students will perform in the Intercollegiate Honor Band in Dawson Auditorium at Adrian College Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. The band is comprised of students nominated by conductors from Albion, Alma, Calvin, Hillsdale, Hope and Olivet colleges, as well as Cornerstone, Grand Valley State and Spring Arbor universities. Frank Ticheli, Ph.D., professor of composition at the University of Southern Californias Thornton School of Music, will serve as guest conductor. Olivet students include: Annie Bahling, a sophomore from Lachine, on horn; Jesse Barber, a freshman from Vandalia, on trumpet; Bryan Borders, a senior from Battle Creek, on trombone; Melanie Engels, a junior from Battle Creek, on alto saxophone; Celeste Gruber, a freshman from South Haven, on clarinet; Katelyn Harmon, a freshman from Augusta, on euphonium; Anne Marie Keisic, a senior from Sterling Heights, on flute; Michael Ryan, a junior from Eastpointe, on tuba; and Blake Walters, a freshman from Olivet, on alto saxophone. Jeananne Nichols, Olivets director of instrumental studies and assistant professor of music, nominated the students who were then selected by a committee to participate in the band.
