Olivet College presents “The Vagina Monologues”

OLIVET, Mich. Olivet College is presenting its third V-Day Olivet College, a fund-raising production of Eve Enslers The Vagina Monologues. The production, which is being performed as a benefit for the Siren/Eaton Shelter in Charlotte, will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. Tickets are $10. There will be an open dress rehearsal Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. for Olivet College students. Those in attendance are asked to bring a canned food donation. Director for this production is Olivet junior Anabel Montalvo, a theatre/journalism major. Joanne Williams, assistant professor of theatre and journalism/mass communications, is the producer. The cast includes: Annie Bahling, a junior from Lachine; Kristin Bloomquist, a senior from Holt; Carrie Crossman, a senior from Ortonville; Marites Eldred, a senior from Battle Creek; Michelle Erskine, a junior from Hemlock; Amy Johnson, a sophomore from Gaylord; Shantell Mathis, a sophomore from Detroit; Mariah Mickelwait, a senior from Los Angeles; Montalvo, from Detroit; Ashley Wemple, a junior from Tustin; and Charity West, a junior from Lansing. Other cast members include: Laura Barlond-Maas, associate professor of English, from Olivet; Lin Collins, from Olivet; Dena DeMello, from Charlotte; Marcia Frost, from Olivet; Stephanie Marie Martin, from Battle Creek; Laura Miller-Purrenhage, from Lansing; Williams, from Olivet; and Mariama Wurie, from Lansing. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit production of Enslers award-winning play.
