Davis receives Livingston Professorship at Olivet College

OLIVET, Mich. Maria Davis, Ph.D., chair of Olivet Colleges Natural and Physical Sciences Department and professor of biology, received the Livingston Professorship award at the 2007 Honors Convocation held Wednesday, April 4 in the colleges Mott Auditorium. This award is the highest teaching honor awarded to a full-time, tenured faculty member at Olivet.

Davis, who resides in Charlotte, was recognized by the college community as exceptional in her abilities as an instructor as well as her commitment to the colleges mission. She sustains engagement of students in the learning process; creates a classroom environment that is characterized by enthusiasm for learning and high expectations; and models life-long learning through continuous professional growth and development.

Maria has tremendous commitment to the college and The Olivet College Compact, said Olivet President Don Tuski, Ph.D. Shes dedicated, passionate and truly represents the best of Olivet.

As recipient of the award, Davis will give the commencement address Saturday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m., at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
