Jul 26, 2007
OLIVET, Mich. – The majority of a $585,000 donation from an Olivet College alumnus and board of trustees member will be used to install a new eight-lane outdoor track around the football field and replace the visitors stands at the colleges Cutler Athletic Complex. Parrish Excavating, Inc., of Quincy will manage the projects, which will begin toward the end of July. Olivet College is very grateful for this donation, which will allow us to complete the complex renovation, said Olivet President Don Tuski. Having an outdoor track facility on campus will be an added benefit for our athletic department and create more wellness opportunities for all of our students, faculty and staff.” In 2004, Olivet began the renovation of the complex with the installation of a synthetic football playing surface, home grandstand, press box, fencing and lighting. The new visitors stands will hold approximately 550 fans. R.K. Sports is the provider of the stands. The 400-meter track will be constructed with a 100 percent polyurethane-based surface and designed for the steeplechase event. Defargo Sports Surfaces, Inc. is the provider of the track surface.
