Olivet College partners with local churches during Welcome Week

Olivet College will partner with local churches from Battle Creek, Marshall and Olivet during its third annual Ignite the Flame program Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 4 to 11:30 p.m. on Blair Halls front lawn. The event, which is part of the colleges Welcome Week, is an outdoor program that includes games, food and entertainment focused on Christianity.

This year’s celebration will feature Dorian Cast, a minister from Life Applications Ministries in Warren, as well as a free concert by Christian rock band Broken Yoke.

Those involved with the program include Olivet’s student organizations Alpha Omega, Olivet College Gospel Choir and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as well as the following local churches and ministries: Olivet Congregational Church in Olivet; First Assembly Church of God in Battle Creek; Gracewalk Community Outreach in Olivet; Maranatha Original Church of God in Battle Creek; Crossroads Church in Marshall; and Second Missionary Baptist Church in Battle Creek.

The 2007 fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 27. Additional Welcome Week activities include “Night on the Town” Monday, Aug. 27 in downtown Olivet; the Presidents Opening Convocation Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the Olivet Congregational Church; and Stand-Up at 5 p.m. in the College Square.
