Olivet College announces new faculty members

Wayne Buletza, Ed.D., Gary Smith and Diana Webb have been hired as new faculty members at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Norma Curtis, Olivet’s vice president and dean of academic affairs. Buletza joins the Olivet faculty as assistant professor of education. He comes to Olivet after serving as associate superintendent for Eaton Intermediate School District (ISD). Buletza has also worked as the director of special education services and the special education supervisor for Eaton ISD. He earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctor of education degree from Western Michigan University. Smith is Olivet’s new assistant professor of journalism. Prior to Olivet, Smith worked as a freelance producer and independent contractor in Colorado, Georgia and Virginia. He has almost 25 years of experience in the journalism field, working as a bureau chief and news director for various television and radio stations in Virginia. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Olivet welcomes Webb as an assistant professor of financial planning. She also works for MetLife Financial Services and is a chairperson for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Services Michigan. Prior to Olivet, Webb taught at several institutions in Michigan. She earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Central Michigan University and a master’s in management from Walsh College. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in business from Capella University. Webb also has her Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow designation from The American College. Olivet’s fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 27.
