Olivet College to host Emmy award-winning broadcaster

The Olivet College Office of Student Life will host a presentation by Ed Gordon, an Emmy award-winning broadcaster, Friday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. in the Olivet Congregational Church. The event is free and open to the public.

Gordon hosts “Our World with Black Enterprise,” a weekly 30-minute program on the TV One station that includes roundtable discussion with newsmakers and celebrities. He has also been a contributing correspondent for the CBS newsmagazine “60 minutes II,” a contributor for NBC’s “Today Show” and “Dateline,” an anchor for “BET News,” and creator of his own signature one-on-one series titled “Conversations with Ed Gordon.”

Gordon has interviewed such newsmakers as O.J. Simpson, Janet Jackson, Senator Trent Lott and singer R. Kelly. He has covered such breaking news events as the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal and the crash of Swiss Air flight 111.

Besides winning an Emmy, Gordon has received the NAACP Image Award and the Journalist of the Year Award from the National Association of Black Journalists. Born in Detroit, Gordon earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.
