Emergency alert system set in place for Olivet College
Oct 24, 2007
In order to reach its students, parents, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency, Olivet College recently signed a contract with AlertNow, a notification service that sends urgent messages immediately after they are received. During an emergency, administrators from Olivet will now be able to log on to the AlertNow Web site and type a message regarding the situation. This message will be forwarded within minutes to every student, faculty and staff member by way of a phone call, e-mail and text message. “With the recent tragic events that have occurred in the educational community, like Virginia Tech and most recently in Cleveland, we felt strongly that we needed a means to quickly communicate with students, parents, staff and faculty,” said Mark Veich, vice president of institutional advancement. “This new system allows us to simultaneously contact everyone within a few minutes of an emergency with a phone call, e-mail and text message.”
