Olivet College music students to perform in the 2008 Intercollegiate Honor Band

Ten Olivet College instrumental music students will perform in the Intercollegiate Honor Band at the Oscar E. Remick Heritage Center for the Performing Arts on the Alma College campus, Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. The band is comprised of students nominated by conductors from Albion, Alma, Calvin, Hillsdale, Hope and Olivet colleges, as well as Cornerstone, Grand Valley State and Spring Arbor universities. Russ Mikkelson, D.M.A., director of bands at The Ohio State University, will serve as guest conductor. Olivet students include: Annie Bahling, a senior from Lachine, horn; Jesse Barber, a sophomore from Vandalia, trumpet; Melanie Engels, a senior from Battle Creek, alto saxophone; Katelyn Harmon, a junior from Augusta, euphonium; Melanie Hoyt, a senior from Lansing, horn; Shantell Mathis, a junior from Detroit, flute; Karlie McManaman, a sophomore from Williamston, flute; Scott Sands, a senior from Marshall, euphonium; Seth Story, a senior from Ithaca, trombone; and Marla Strickler, a sophomore from Constantine, bass clarinet. Jeananne Nichols, D.M.A., Olivet’s director of instrumental studies and assistant professor of music, nominated the students who were then selected by a committee to participate in the band. « Back
