Olivet College to present “Happy Birthday, Wanda June”

The Olivet College theatre program will present Happy Birthday, Wanda June Feb. 28 and 29 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. The production is free and open to the public. Happy Birthday, Wanda June, a comedy by Kurt Vonnegut, examines the publics fixation with violence, definitions of manhood and sexual relations. The play focuses on Penelope Ryan, a character who believes she is a widow after her husband, Harold, disappears. As Penelope tries to decide between two new beaus, her life is further disrupted by Harolds precipitous return. Cast members include: Joseph Desrochers, a junior from Nashville; Maria-Teresa Eldred, a senior from Battle Creek; Mark Gouba, a freshman from Novi; Emma Henson, a junior from Shelby Township; Joe McAllister, a sophomore from Sault Ste. Marie; Nick Pavolski, a sophomore from Rudyard; Brandon Summer-Miller of Battle Creek; Elayne Thomas of Bellevue; and Drew Williams of Fenton. The play is directed by Arthur Williams, Ph.D., Olivets theatre program director and associate professor of theatre. Assistant director and stage manager is Amanda Roy, a sophomore from Howell, and assistant stage manager is Rachel Tunison, a senior from Erie. Technical director and designer is Anabel Montalvo, a senior from Detroit, and costumer is Anna EldenBrady, a teacher certification student from Okemos.
