The Olivet College Jazz Band will present a concert featuring trumpeter Danny Barber, Tuesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. The concert is free and open to the public.

Barber was first trumpeter for the United States Army Jazz Ensemble, performing at concert halls, colleges and high schools in 48 states before receiving an honorable discharge and Meritorious Service Award. Soon after, he was called to perform with the Tommy Dorsey Band under the direction of Murray McCeaceran and alongside Buddy Morrow. Barber has also composed and arranged music for jazz artist Bobby Christian.

Under the direction of Jonathon Gewirtz, adjunct instructor of music, the jazz band will perform music by Eubie Blake, Benny Carter, Arthur Hamilton, Ray Henderson, Sammy Nestico, Oscar Pettiford and Jerome Richardson.
