Olivet College announces three new scholarships
Feb 28, 2008

Olivet College has partnered with the Lansing School Districts Chicano Latino Advisory Committee to create three new scholarships for Latino students.

The Larry Vallar/Olivet College Scholarship of Excellence, the Olivet College/Lansing School District Libertad Scholarship and the Olivet College/Lansing School District Orgullo Scholarship will be awarded to Latino students from Lansings Eastern, Everett and Sexton high schools.

It is important that we attract more Latino students from the surrounding area, said Larry Vallar, Olivet Colleges vice president for enrollment management. Our state capital has a strong population of Latino students and Olivet College is interested in supporting their ongoing education.

Two of the scholarships, which provide full tuition to Olivet, have already been awarded to incoming students. The recipients are Marcus Ledesma, a senior at Eastern High School, and Alma Torres, a senior at Everett High School.
