Olivet College to host media day at The Cutler Event Center OLIVET, Mich. In celebration of the opening of The Cutler Event Center, Olivet College will host a media day Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. at the new facility. Reporters will have the opportunity to tour the building and speak with Olivet College officials, coaches and student athletes about its amenities. Construction on the events center began in September 2007, thanks to the generosity of Dave Cutler, a 1965 graduate of Olivet College. Cutler contributed two donations totaling $4.3 million toward the $5.1 million facility. It is one of several major building and renovation projects to take place at the college in the past year. The 44,500-square-foot multipurpose facility will be used by the college and community for activities ranging from athletic events to commencement exercises, student events, guest speakers, concerts and conferences. The building includes a fitness center, 100-meter track, locker rooms, coaches offices and wrestling room. In addition to the events center, members of the media will have the opportunity to tour the Gillette Student Village, Olivets new apartment-style student housing facility. The $1.7 million project was financed, in part, by J. Robert Gillette, a 1963 graduate of Olivet College. The two-story building features nine units, each consisting of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, kitchen and dining room. The apartments are fully furnished and include appliances. « Back
