Olivet College announces highest enrollment in school history
Sep 08, 2008

With 495 new students, Olivet Colleges fall enrollment stands at a record 1,145. It is the highest student body total in school history, according to an announcement by Larry Vallar, vice president for enrollment management.

This is truly a great time for Olivet, said Vallar. I am very proud of the admissions team and their accomplishments this past year. To achieve the highest enrollment the college has ever experienced is beyond our expectations. Olivet College continues to align with our founders vision of providing a quality liberal arts education to a diverse population of students. I want to personally thank all those responsible for supporting Olivets mission to help attract, attain and graduate our future responsible leaders.

Olivets fall enrollment has surpassed the 1,000-student plateau for five consecutive years. Enrollment continues to increase substantially, thanks to improved facilities, programs, and recruiting and retention efforts. During the past year, the college has constructed or renovated several buildings on campus, including the Cutler Event Center, Ruth Rawlings Mott Auditorium, Gillette Student Village, Dr. Paul H. and Ruth B. Engle Chemistry Laboratory, Frederick S. Upton Center Natatorium, Mott Academic Center classrooms, and a track and visitors stands at the Cutler Athletic Complex. In addition, faculty members are currently reviewing academic departments and developing new majors to meet students changing needs. Recruiting efforts have also improved, thanks in part to the implementation of the Olivet College Community Connection Grant, which significantly reduces the cost of tuition for area students.

The record enrollment adds to the excitement on campus with the new facilities and renovations, said Olivet College President Don Tuski, Ph.D. Larry Vallar and the entire admissions staff are to be congratulated, along with all the coaches and employees who helped in this great recruitment effort. I am very proud of our achievement.
