Olivet College to host holiday choral concert

Olivet College will present its annual holiday choral concert, Make We Joy! Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m. in the Olivet Congregational Church. The concert is free and open to the public. Under the direction of Timothy Flynn, Ph.D., assistant professor of music and Performing Arts Department chair, and accompanied by Ramona Kime, Ph.D., adjunct associate professor of music, the concert will feature the Olivet College Mens Ensemble, Womens Chorale, Mens Quartet: All the Deans Men, and the College Choir with student and alumni guest soloists. The College Choir, accompanied by the Olivet College Brass Quartet and a professional string ensemble, will perform excerpts from Handels Messiah and other holiday favorites by John Rutter, Saint-Sans, and Hasse. Alumni soloists include: Angela Boardman, of DeWitt; Timothy LaVasseur, of Augusta; and Michael Northrop, of Three Rivers. Student soloists include: Alaina Beam, a senior from Charlotte; John Gouba, a sophomore from Novi; Amanda Roy, a sophomore from Novi; and Marla Strickler, a sophomore from Union.
