Wilson to speak at Olivet College on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Karl E. Wilson, longtime educator and graduate of Olivet College, will speak in Mott Auditorium Monday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. His speech is titled How to Become a Successful Student at Olivet College. After graduating from Olivet in 1969 with a degree in social studies, Wilson was drafted by the NFLs Buffalo Bills and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He later earned a masters degree in guidance and counseling from Michigan State University. In 1986, he was inducted into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame. Wilson served more than 30 years as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor in the Lansing School District, retiring in 2005. He is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and serves on the board of trustees for Friendship Baptist Church of Lansing.
