Olivet College presents “The Vagina Monologues”

Olivet College is hosting its biennial V-Day benefit for the SIREN/Eaton Shelter in Charlotte with two performances of Eve Enslers The Vagina Monologues. The production, which is sponsored by the Betsy Dole Womens Resource Center (BDWRC), will be held Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Margaret Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall. Tickets are $8.

There will be an open dress rehearsal Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. for Olivet College students. Those in attendance are asked to bring a canned food donation.

Director for the production is Joanne Williams, assistant professor of journalism/mass communication and theatre.

The cast includes: Michelle Erskine, a senior from Hemlock; Madge Harris, a teacher certification student from Lansing; Emma Henson, a senior from Shelby Township; Tajalli Kelley-Graves, a sophomore from Lansing; Mariah Mickelwait, a senior from Middleville; Beth Mitchell, a freshman from Portage; and Sara Slack, a senior from Portage. Other cast members include: Lin Collins, from Olivet; Carletta Daniels, from Battle Creek; Marcia Frost, from Olivet; Susan Hughes, from Marshall; Shannon Mann, from Potterville; Cynthia Noyes, associate professor of sociology and anthropology, from Duck Lake; Tracey Maroney, from Grand Ledge; Lori Poyer, from Vermontville; Kristy Smith, from Burlington; and Anne Williston, from Eaton Rapids.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls by raising funds and awareness through benefit productions of Enslers award-winning play. To date, V-Day has raised more than $60 million. This is Olivets fourth time hosting the production, which is held every other year in February.
