Olivet College students accepted into the Michigan Small College Art Exhibition

Nine Olivet College students were accepted into the 14th annual Michigan Small College Art Exhibition, which runs through Friday, April 17 at the Flatlanders Sculpture Supply and Art Gallery in Blissfield. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Olivet students who were accepted include: Charlene Baker, a junior from Howell; Ben Chee, a senior from Marengo, Ill.; Stephanie Dixon, a junior from Charlotte; Blake Gardner, a senior from Clio; Kitty Jones, a senior from Albion; Birgit Lauderdale, a senior from Covert; Laura Markin, a junior from South Lyon; Rob Simons, a junior from Bellevue; and Brad Sullens, a freshman from Bellville. Dixon received second prize for her carved plaster piece, titled Acorn, and Markin received an honorable mention for her carbon dust piece, titled The Eyeball, during an awards ceremony for the event. The exhibit includes student art work from Adrian, Albion, Alma and Olivet colleges. This years juror was Cathy Van Voorhis, art professor at Washtenaw Community College and recipient of the Creative Artist Grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts. « Back
