Apr 27, 2009
The Womens Board of Olivet College, in conjunction with the celebration of their 150th anniversary, will feature former Henry Ford Museum archivist and registrar Sarah (Engle) Lawrence as their program speaker during a meeting Saturday, May 16. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, features Lawrences extensive collection of vintage Olivet-area postcards. Lawrence grew up in Olivet, graduated from the college in 1956, and is married to current Olivet College trustee Robert Lawrence. She is the oldest daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Paul H. Engle. Lawrence taught high school mathematics for a number of years, but her interest in history prompted her to earn a masters degree in library science with a specialty in archival records. After retiring from the Henry Ford Museum in 1995, she began volunteering with the Grosse Ile Historical Society. Lawrence was the lead author of the 2007 Arcadia publication, Grosse Ile, based on the Historical Societys collection of postcards and images. An 8 a.m. social time will be followed by the 8:30 a.m. presentation in room 110 of the colleges Mott Academic Center. The Womens Board business meeting will follow. « Back
