Olivet College’s Burrage Library to host fall programs

Olivet Colleges Burrage Library is hosting the following programs throughout the fall semester. All events are free and open to the public. For more information, call (269) 749-7608.

  • Zahrah Resh Artists Talk 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 in the Library Lecture Room. Discussion of Reshs art exhibit, Block Party.

  •           o Block Party is on display from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Sept. 3 to Oct. 6 in the Olivet College Art Gallery.

  • Service Day 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the Main Lobby. Burrage Library is sponsoring a baby bib making project for Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. Registration is necessary and donations of cotton yarn are accepted. Contact Jane Reiter, library director, at (269) 749-7387 or jreiter@olivetcollege.edu for more information.

  • Lunch, Learn and Laugh Noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 in the Library Lecture Room. Tips on knitting will be offered. No supplies necessary; participants should bring a brown bag lunch.

  • Happy Hobby 4:30 p.m. on the following dates, in the Library Lecture Room. Supplies, instruction and refreshments provided.

  •           o Wednesday, Sept. 30 Recycle and decorate used tote bags with glitter glue, paint, fabric, buttons and yarn.

              o Tuesday, Oct. 13 Make a knitted hat or scarf without knitting needles.

  • Book Discussion 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 in the Library Lecture Room. Analysis of two books; What Went Wrong? by Bernard Lewis and The Post-American War by Fareed Zakaria with Joel Epstein, professor emeritus of history.

  • Holiday Sale 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20 in the Main Lobby. Purchase handmade arts and crafts from Olivet College students, employees and alumni at reasonable prices. Ten percent of sales benefit the purchase of new books for Burrage Library.
