Olivet College announces record enrollment
Sep 23, 2009
With 427 new students, Olivet Colleges fall undergraduate enrollment stands at 1,126. It is the sixth consecutive year that fall enrollment has surpassed the 1,000-student mark, according to an announcement by Larry Vallar, vice president for enrollment management. We are excited to see a positive trend in enrollment numbers over the past few years, Vallar said. In addition to sustaining those high numbers, we are attracting quality students with higher academic credentials. Though we have become more selective, we continue to align with our mission of supporting students who are not rich in this worlds means by providing more than $8 million in institutional aid. Enrollment continues to increase substantially, thanks to improved facilities, programs, and recruiting and retention efforts. During the past year, the college has introduced several new academic majors, minors and concentrations, including an insurance claims investigation minor, music major with a concentration in musical theatre, and learning disability teacher certification. In addition, the college has completed several building and renovation projects on campus in the past two years and plans to break ground on the new M. Gorton Riethmiller Art Building in October. Recruiting efforts have also improved, thanks in part to the implementation of the Olivet College Community Connection Grant, which significantly reduces the cost of tuition for area students.
