Olivet College to host French Film Festival

Olivet College will host a French Film Festival Oct. 19-23 in Mott Auditorium. Sponsored by the Humanities Department, the festival is designed to expose students to the diversity of French culture.

Admission is free for Olivet College students and employees with college I.D. The cost for community members is just $2 per film. Please note, these films are not intended for young children.

The festival will feature one film per night beginning at 7:30 p.m. This years line-up kicks off Monday, Oct. 19 with Ive Loved You So Long, directed by Philippe Claudel. Tuesdays feature is The Class, directed by Laurent Cantet. Showing Wednesday is The Romance of Astrea and Celadon, directed by Eric Rohmer. Thursday will feature The Witnesses, directed by Andr Tchin, and showing Friday is Fears of the Dark (various directors).

The college received a grant from the French American Cultural Exchange (FACE) Council to host the festival. Olivet last received this grant in 2008 and has hosted several film festivals through funding from the FACE Council.
