First likely case of H1N1 influenza at Olivet College
Oct 13, 2009

Olivet College has been notified that one student is likely to have H1N1 influenza. This is the first potential case of the virus at the college. The student is recovering at home and is not currently on campus. Although administrators are receiving updates about the students condition, the college continues to respect the individuals privacy.

Olivet will continue to update students and employees about the possible spread of H1N1 influenza on campus, as well as provide information on symptoms, treatment and prevention. Plans are currently in place to minimize the impact of the virus. Students and employees are encouraged to view the Pandemic Influenza Information file in Public Folders for detailed information.

All Olivet College facilities are open and operations are proceeding as normal as the college continues to monitor the illness. In addition to increased precautions, the college is informing visitors, such as athletic teams, about the potential case.

For more information about H1N1 influenza, visit the Michigan Department of Community Health at http://www.michigan.gov/mdch, or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/.
