Olivet College to feature Rowe in retrospective art exhibition

The Olivet College Visual Arts Department is hosting an art exhibition titled, Don Rowe: A 40-Year Retrospective Exhibition, Thursday, Feb. 25 through Tuesday, March 30 in the Olivet College Art Gallery, located in Mott Academic Center. There will be an artists reception at the gallery Saturday, Feb. 27. Both events are free and open to the public. Rowe, professor of art and director of the liberal arts core program, has been teaching art at Olivet College since 1968. The exhibition will feature paintings, prints, drawings, watercolors and constructions created during his past 40 years at the college. Rowe teaches courses in drawing, painting, printmaking, art appreciation and general education. In the past, he taught courses in color and composition, creative drawing, figure drawing, visual foundations, and art history from the Baroque, Modern and Renaissance periods and the 19th century. Rowe earned a bachelors degree in visual design from the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master of Fine Art degree in printmaking from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. He has exhibited his work in many art shows throughout the country, including Arkansas, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota and Texas.
