Lamplighter OC to be constructed near Olivet College campus
May 26, 2010
Olivet College is celebrating the construction of a new late-night restaurant and bar near campus. College officials will break ground with the owners of the Lamplighter OC Thursday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Main Street and Butterfield Highway in Olivet. The new establishment is being funded by Tom Kolassa, a 1969 alumnus of the college, and business partner Gary Hart. Having just received a liquor license from the state of Michigan, construction on the 4,000-square-foot facility will begin immediately. The new restaurant will be similar to the Lamplighter of Coldwater, which is also owned by Kolassa and Hart. When open, the proprietors hope to employ 20 to 30 Olivet College students and community members to serve customers. I am very excited for our students and for the Olivet Community, said President Don Tuski 85, Ph.D. The city of Olivet has been very supportive of this project, and food open late will soon be a reality.
