Federau, Labrecque and Wildern named to Olivet College Board of Trustees

Douglas Federau, David Labrecque and Jeffrey Wildern have been named to the Olivet College Board of Trustees, according to an announcement by Board Chair David Hayhow. They will each serve a four-year term.
Federau, of East Lansing, is retired after 47 years in the insurance business. He previously served as owner and principal of The Federau Group, which includes Okemos Insurance Agency, Merriman Insurance Center, Independent Insurance Center of Traverse City, Petoskey Insurance Agency, Independent Insurance Centre of Albion and First Financial Agency. He was also president, officer and member of Independent Insurance Agents of Michigan (now Michigan Association of Insurance Agents), Associated Insurance Managers and the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants, as well as several community organizations throughout the state of Michigan.
Federau has lectured on agency acquisitions, agency evaluation and managing the sales process at insurance conventions and workshops nationwide. In addition, he has served as a guest instructor at Lansing Community College, Olivet and Michigan State University. He was a member of the Olivet College Insurance Advisory Committee since 1979, and was an advisory council member to several insurance companies, as well as the Michigan Insurance Commission.
Federau attended Taft City College of California, Ferris State University and Michigan State University. He was inducted into the Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame in 1999.
Labrecque, of Battle Creek, has been an employee of Merck & Co. since 1997, currently managing respiratory specialty sales. During his tenure with the company, he has received several promotions and awards, including the Region Leadership Award, MVP of the District, Directors Award and Teamwork Award. In addition, he has been in the top 50 percent in the region of market share growth each year of his employment, including four years in the top 10 percent.
A 1984 Olivet College graduate, Labrecque earned a bachelors degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. In 1994, he earned a certified medical representative masters degree. A former wrestler with the college, he was inducted into Olivets Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992 and is responsible for initiating the Olivet College Wrestling Alumni Golf Outing in 1997, which has raised approximately $35,000 to date for the wrestling program.
Wildern, of Charlotte, owned and operated Wilderns Drug Store in Charlotte and Potterville from 1972 to 2009. He currently serves as a pharmacist with CVS Pharmacy of Charlotte.
Wildern has been a member of the Charlotte Rotary Club since 1975, serving as president from 1990 to 1991 and on the board of directors for several years. He also currently serves as president of the board of directors for Eaton Federal Savings Bank in Charlotte, Olivet, Eaton Rapids, Nashville and Grand Ledge. In addition, he is past president of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and Eaton County United Way.
A philanthropist in his community, Wildern has been a volunteer fireman with the Charlotte Fire Department since 1974, has participated in the departments Christmas for Kiddies, was involved with the Rotary Park Soccer Field and Dean Park Project, and has been active with the Boy Scouts of America.
