Olivet College to celebrate Homecoming Oct. 8-10

Olivet College will celebrate its 2010 Homecoming Friday through Sunday, Oct. 8-10 with the theme, Celebrate the Arts. Activities for Friday include a wine tasting fundraiser and silent auction to benefit the colleges new Riethmiller Blackman Art Building from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., as well as A Celebration of Theatre at 8 p.m. at the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. Saturday includes a dedication ceremony for the Riethmiller Blackman Art Building at 9:30 a.m. At noon, the college will honor grand marshal Don Rowe, professor of art at Olivet, and Distinguished Alumni Award recipients Gayla Fox, Dominic Livedoti and David Sly at the Kirk Center dining hall. The Comet football team will take on Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College at 2 p.m. at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Sundays activities include a service at the Olivet Congregational Church at 10:30 a.m. and brunch at the Kirk Center dining hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A number of alumni receptions, concerts, athletic events and additional activities are also planned throughout the weekend.
