Olivet, Mich. Shannon Tiernan has been named college relations specialist at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Jerry Rashid, assistant vice president for college relations.

Tiernan, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1999, began her duties on Dec. 1. Her responsibilities include preparing press releases, writing feature articles for the colleges alumni magazine and assisting with the writing, editing and design of a variety of communication material.

Tiernan previously worked as the communications coordinator for the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, where she handled media and public relations activities. Her background also includes working as an event planner for the Michigan State Fair in Detroit.

A native of Alma, Tiernan resides in Marshall.
