Eight Olivet College students have been accepted into the Michigan Small Colleges’ Art Exhibition, which will be held Jan. 10 through Feb. 12, 2011 at Adrian College. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., or by appointment. The gallery will be closed Monday, Jan. 17.

Olivet College students who were accepted for the exhibition include: John Byrens, a junior from Marshall; Casey Eash, a senior from Marshall; Caitlin Lohr, a junior from Holland; Laura Markin, a senior from South Lyon; Hannah Merz, a sophomore from Eaton Rapids; Emily Pieri, a junior from Cedarville; Jesse Rodriguez, a junior from Ligonier, Ind.; and Judith Tellez-Gonzalez, a senior from Atlacomulco, Mexico.

Students will be awarded based on a juror’s selection Jan. 10-14, with an awards ceremony and reception taking place Feb. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Valade Gallery of Adrian College’s Shipman Library.

The exhibit includes student artwork from Adrian, Albion, Alma and Olivet colleges. Ron Frenzen, retired art teacher and active participant of the Michigan Arts Education Association, will serve as this year’s juror.
