Olivet College to host jazz concert Dec. 7

The Olivet College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. The concert is free and open to the public. Under the direction of Jon Gewirtz, adjunct instructor of music, the band will perform a wide variety of jazz from composers such as Count Basie, George Gershwin, Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan and Horace Silver. Performers include: Nicolas Adsit, a junior from Muskegon; Jennifer Bohms, a nontraditional student from Charlotte; Tyler Canterbury, a freshman from Olivet; Kazette Chan, a sophomore from Charlotte; Zachary Coddaire, a junior from Lake Odessa; Evan Cusumano, a junior from Richmond; Cameron Eldridge, a freshman from Nashville; Christopher Eldridge, a freshman from Nashville; Abigail Fangboner, a junior from Lansing; Kaitlin Greathouse, a sophomore from Eaton Rapids; Kenneth Lowe, a senior from Lansing; Dustin Mateling, a senior from Bellaire; Henry McKeown, a freshman from Bellevue; Dakota Rhodes, a sophomore from Olivet; and Dylan Stoddard, a freshman from Eastpointe. Two Olivet College employees, Marcus Darden, assistant professor of computer science, and Blake Walters, community service coordinator, will also perform with the students.
