Olivet College to present "The Vagina Monologues"
Feb 10, 2011

Olivet College is hosting its biennial V-Day benefit for the SIREN/Eaton Shelter in Charlotte with two performances of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues.” The production, which is sponsored by the Betsy Dole Women’s Resource Center (BDWRC), will be held Thursday, Feb. 24 and Friday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Margaret Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall, located at Cottage and Main streets. Tickets are $8, or free for Olivet College students who donate a non-perishable food item. In addition to SIREN, proceeds will benefit V-Day’s international charity, the Women and Girls of Haiti.

Director for the production is Joanne Williams, assistant professor of journalism/mass communication and theatre. The cast includes: Kazette Chan, a sophomore from Hong Kong; Rebecca Jones, a sophomore from Lansing; Tajalli Kelley-Graves, a junior from Lansing; Elizabeth Mitchell, a junior from Portage; and Amy Zesiger, a junior from Galesburg. Other cast members include: Lin Collins, from Charlotte; Michelle Erskine, from Hemlock; Marcia Frost, from Olivet; Trisha Harris, from Olivet; and Kim Forde, from Marshall.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls by raising funds and awareness through benefit productions of Ensler’s award-winning play. This is Olivet’s fifth time hosting the production, which is held every other year in February.

Please note, the show contains adult language and situations. For tickets or information, contact Dianne Thomas, director of the BDWRC, at (269) 749-6638 or dthomas@olivetcollege.edu.
