Olivet College wins public relations awards
Mar 21, 2011
Olivet College’s Office of College Relations was recently recognized with three 2011 PACE Awards from the Central Michigan Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (CMPRSA). The PACE Awards are mid-Michigan’s highest honor of public relations activities and are awarded annually to practitioners who, in the judgment of their out-of-state peers, have successfully addressed a contemporary issue with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. Entries come from non-profit organizations, corporations and public and private agencies in Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Gratiot, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston and Shiawassee counties. Olivet’s 2010 Viewbook received a Pinnacle Award, the society’s top honor, in the brochures category. The publication, which is used to recruit prospective students to campus, was created by two College Relations employees: Bruce Snyder, director of publications and web services, designed the book, while Molly Goaley, managing editor of Shipherd’s Record, provided the written content. The Office of Enrollment Management served as the client, conceptualizing the piece and providing direction throughout its production. In addition, Goaley received a Pinnacle Award in the feature stories category for her article on Olivet’s outgoing president, Donald Tuski, Ph.D. The article was published in the Spring 2010 issue of Shipherd’s Record, the college’s alumni magazine. Finally, the college received an Achievement Award in the magazines category for Shipherd’s Record. Goaley is responsible for conceptualizing and managing editorial content for the publication, while Snyder manages design and layout. Other college employees, including Geoff Henson, sports information director; Marty Jennings, director of alumni relations; and Shannon Tiernan, director of foundation relations and special events, contribute to the writing as well. The employees will be honored at a ceremony in Lansing Wednesday, April 13. For more information on the 2011 PACE Awards, visit the CMPRSA’s website at www.cmprsa.com. « Back
