Olivet College set for Service Day March 30
Mar 24, 2011

Olivet College is gearing up for its 12th annual spring Service Day Wednesday, March 30.

Faculty, staff and students put aside their normal routine to volunteer on campus and in the community as part of Service Day activities. In addition, this years event will conclude with the college’s first-ever “Rock the Cans” concert, featuring local rock group The JHD, at 9 p.m. in MacKay Gymnasium. Admission to the concert is free with a non-perishable food item. All proceeds benefit the Olivet Good Neighbor Food Pantry.

Service projects are organized by Olivet College students, employees, athletic teams, Greek societies and student organizations. Some activities are open to the public. This year’s projects include: painting various classrooms and offices on campus; cleaning the Oak Chest resale shop; volunteering with Educated Animal Rescue and Teen Haven in Bellevue, as well as Charlotte American Legion and Marshall Recreation; weeding, trimming and cleaning the college’s Mawby Native Plant Garden; baking and delivering goods for local senior citizens, and more.
