Women's lacrosse update
Nov 01, 2008

In 2009, Olivet College will participate as a school-supported club program and will compete against like programs in the Midwest. In 2010, Olivet is committed to bringing the women’s lacrosse program into the NCAA as a Division III program. As part of the NCAA, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association also plans to adopt women’s lacrosse as a varsity sport.

The team is currently recruiting previous lacrosse players as well as other athletes from the current Olivet athletic teams who have not played lacrosse but have demonstrated a high level of athleticism in high school and would like to get involved with the “fastest sport on two feet.”

Lacrosse is a spring sport and combines a high level of athleticism and stick skills in fast-paced and high scoring game. It is a great crossover sport for many athletes looking to play more than one sport in college or for a student who excelled in high school athletics and wants to try something new.

We want to make Olivet the school of choice for women wanting to play college lacrosse in a small mid-western school environment. Today’s athletes at Olivet have the unique opportunity to get involved at the beginning of the program and grow as the program grows.

If you are interested in playing, please contact either of the coaches: Brian Jacob at bjacob@olivetcollege.edu or Dave Tanis at dtanis@olivetcollege.edu.
