Women’s basketball team defeated by Trine, 51-34

The Olivet College women’s basketball team was defeated by Trine (Ind.) University, 51-34, tonight in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) game at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
Senior Shannon Tennant (Saginaw/Arthur Hill) was the only Olivet (6-9, 2-4 MIAA) player in double figures with a career-high 11 points. She also posted career-highs in rebounds (nine), field goals made (four) and three-pointers (three). Junior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) grabbed a team-leading 13 rebounds. Senior Emily Brown (Muskegon/Mona Shores) also had nine rebounds. Trine was led by Liz Gehrig with 14 points. Kristen Julian had 13 rebounds for the Thunder, who were out-rebounded, 51-39. The Comets will travel to play MIAA co-leader Hope College Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
