About the Garfield Lake Review

The Garfield Lake Review is an annual journal of creative writing and artwork that began in 1971 as a project in a creative writing class. The founders include Professor James Coleman, Brent Danielson, James Hudson, Andrew Johnson, Amy Leithauser, George Palmenter, and Norm Wheeler. In the fall semester, current students serve on an editorial board to select submissions from students, staff, and alumni for publication.  The Garfield Lake Review also publishes the annual winner of the Abbie Copps Poetry Prize (open to poets nationwide), and, since 2007, student interviews with the annual Sandburg-Auden-Stein Poet-in-Residence.

Historically the deadline for submissions has been November 1; writers and artists interested in submitting work should request the current year’s deadline and guidelines by sending a query letter to: Garfield@olivetcollege.edu
