Olivet College has named three students to leadership positions of its campus media, according to an announcement from Joanne Williams, associate professor of journalism and mass communication.
Danny Neugent, a sophomore from East Lansing, has been named manager of WOCR 89.1 FM, the student radio station. A resident advisor and art major, Neugent has been a regular voice on live sports broadcasts for the station. He takes over for Travis Oberlin, a graduating senior from Marshall.
WOCR broadcasts live from the Convergent Media Center on the campus of Olivet College and is an FCC-licensed, non-commercial, educational radio station operated by Olivet College students. Listen to WOCR for music, weather, news, information on campus events, and Comet sports coverage and commentary at www.wocrfm.
Freshman Brian Freiberger, of Onsted, has been named editor of the Echo, the award-winning student newspaper of Olivet College. A journalism and mass communication major, Freiberger is also on the Comet football team. He takes over for Mitchell Galloway, a graduating senior from Coldwater.
The Echo has been serving the Olivet College community since 1888, and is a member of the Associated Collegiate Press and the Michigan Collegiate Press Association. The Garfield Lake Review is a proud member of the Olivet College Media Board. Submissions for the magazine are accepted annually throughout the summer and fall semester. The magazine staff accepts submissions of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art, or any other form of original work. Submissions are chosen for publication through a blind screening process.
