Homecoming – we can’t say enough about it! Campus is getting ready to welcome alumni and friends home once again. The planning, prepping, decorating and excitement is all underway. Now, all we need is you. Here are five fun things you don’t want to miss out on at this year’s Comet Carnival Homecoming Weekend.

1. Reconnect with Fellow Comets

Homecoming says it right in the name. Olivet College has served as a second home to students for generations, and the men and women who live and learn on campus all have something in common – what it means to be a Comet. Don’t miss out on events to rekindle old relationships and make some new ones too. The Class of 1967 and 1977 are honored guests at this year’s celebrations to commemorate their 50th and 40th reunions. All alumni from the 60s and 70s are welcome to attend events created to connect with classmates. Or, start your Saturday with Meet and Greet Coffee in the Barker Cawood Lounge, inviting all alumni and current and past faculty members to reunite, remember and renew.

2. Cheer on the Football Team

What’s Homecoming without football? Cheer on the Comets as they face Hope College at the Cutler Event Center at 2 p.m. At halftime, the OC Marching Comets will give a special performance and the king and queen court will be recognized.

3. Honor OC Traditions

Homecoming is designed to bring all generations of Comets together, so make sure you take time to enjoy what you all have in common. While you’re on campus, stop in at your favorite Greek organization or put on your OC red and white sweatshirt – or face paint – and tailgate at the Lamplighter before the big game. This year, a special ceremony will honor the 50-year anniversary of C.S. Mott Academic Center, where students have learned for half a century, and counting! No matter what, a visit to the Olivet College Archives at the top of Burrage Library is a must. You’ll experience the history, traditions and legacy of Olivet College through treasured photos, documents and memorabilia.

4. Make New Memories

Once a Comet, always a Comet. Returning for Homecoming isn’t only about remembering the past, it’s about making new memories too. Attend the Alumni Art Exhibit to see the work of Tom Hamann ’88 and Vance Orr ’08, or the Alumni Awards Celebration where four outstanding alumni will be recognized. After the football game, head back to the Lamplighter for a Concert and Social Under the Tent with performances by the Kathy Ford (’78) Band.

5. Celebrate Being a Comet

There’s so much to love about Homecoming and being a Comet! Whether you’re building new friendships or strengthening old ones, making new memories or honoring decades-old traditions, you are part of a family. Attend as many events as you can, sit back and enjoy Homecoming!
