Bio:

Jeremy Duby conducts the Olivet College Wind Ensemble and Athletic Band. He is also the music director for the Warren Concert Band in Warren, Mich., where he serves as only the third music director in the band’s 42-year history. Mr. Duby began his career teaching music in the Michigan public schools at Sterling Heights and L’Anse Creuse - North High Schools, respectively. He earned his Master of Music degree in wind conducting at Oakland University and his Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Wayne State University, where he also worked as a librarian and historian for the music department, while concurrently working as the library assistant for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Under his direction, Mr. Duby’s bands have received consistently high ratings at both district and state festivals for marching and concert seasons. His bands have performed in festivals and parades nationally and internationally. The Sterling Heights High School Band participated in an invitational performance tour in Paris, France in 2007, while his L’Anse Creuse High School-North Band performed in a similar invitation performance tour in London, England in 2011.

Mr. Duby is active as a guest conductor and clinician in the area, and has worked with many local groups including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Wind Symphony, the Royal Oak Symphony Orchestra, the Oakland University Concert Band and Wind Symphony, the Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts, as well as many area secondary school instrumental music programs.

Mr. Duby is the recipient of an Early Career Award from the American School Band Director’s Association in 2007. He has also been honored with a proclamation from Macomb County for his outstanding contributions and years of service to students and the community. Mr. Duby has served the professional community as vice president for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District XVI, and currently serves MSBOA as an adjudicator for the solo and ensemble festivals. He is a member of the College Band Director’s National Association, Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, as well as the National Association for Music Educators.
