Jared Stratz has worked in admissions since 2014, and has taken on many different roles and projects during his time at Olivet College. He started his journey at Olivet as an admission representative recruiting for the Natural and Physical Sciences and is currently serving as the director of admission. Within this role, he works directly with transfer and readmit students; holds the New Student Orientation Coordinator position; connects directly with coaches as the athletic liaison; and interfaces with the Student Services department as the financial aid liaison.
“I always knew that I wanted to help people and work in higher education — and life in admissions allows me to do both,” Jared said. “Building relationships is the most important part of the college search process, and I love connecting with students and their families to get to know them and share the OC story. I want to help make a lasting impression, and I enjoy every minute of it.”
Jared graduated from a private, liberal arts college in 2012 with a degree in environmental studies and geology. Right after graduation, he was employed as the director of curation for the Bruce Dice Mineralogical Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Through this experience, Jared became deeply rooted in working with high school and college students where relationship building was paramount. He believes that helping students find their path in life is vital – and once they find a career they love, they won’t work a day in their life.
“I was the first one in my family to go to college and education became a very powerful tool as I grew from a student to the professional world,” Jared said. “I want to equip every student with the tools to be successful and show them the power of an Olivet College education.”
