Professor KayDee Perry earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics with a minor in physical education from Western Michigan University, as well as master’s degrees in education leadership and adapted physical education from Grand Canyon and Western Michigan universities, respectively.
Prof. Perry taught in the K-12 setting in both the public and private sectors for nearly nine years. Most of her experience was in teaching secondary math with a concentration in working with students with disabilities in the traditional education setting. Locally, and her most recent experience in K-12 prior to coming to Olivet College, Prof. Perry taught at Holt Public Schools, where she was able to teach high school math (Algebra I) and K-2 kinetics.
Her particular areas of expertise include curriculum planning, assessment and instruction, facilitation and data-driven dialogue. At Olivet College, she teaches a number of physical education courses, as well as math and self and community.
Prof. Perry is a delegate with the Michigan Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. In pursuing her interest in advocating for individuals with special needs, she coordinates the volunteer efforts for Eaton County’s Special Olympics Field Day. As the treasurer for Freer Place Association, a neighborhood association, she maintains their financial records, deposits annual dues and disburses expenses incurred by the association.
