A Kansas native, Professor Nancy Van Hoozier earned her bachelor’s in health, physical education and recreation with specializations in athletic training and coaching from Fort Hays State University, and her master’s in physical education with an emphasis in sport psychology and kinesiology and recreation from University of Kansas. Her research centered around visualization specifically on imagery and relaxation. She completed a study and paper entitled, “The Effect of Audio Imagery on Skill Improvement of Free Throw Shooting Accuracy.”

Prof. Van Hoozier gained practical career experience in the field while coaching at the University of Kansas and Olivet College and serving in the college’s athletic administration as athletic director. As a faculty member, she has served on a number of local and national  committees including the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships Sport Committee.

Prof. Van Hoozier has mentored student research through a Michigan Campus Compact Professional Grant at the Character Education Conference on Sports, Character Education and Service Learning and most recently participated in the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Consortium. Her teaching focuses on sports and athletic administration and improving individual and team athletic performance, practical coursework in kinesiology, sport psychology, and sports and physical education administration.
