Olivet College is proud to announce its designation as a 2022-23 Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly School by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for the fifth consecutive year. The Michigan Veteran-Friendly Schools Program recognizes academic institutions committed to supporting the needs of veterans and military-connected students. These institutions are awarded gold-, silver- or bronze-level status based on their veteran-centric services and programs. As a gold-level school, Olivet College has been recognized at the highest-ranking level.

Institutions are considered for the Veteran-Friendly School rankings based on whether they meet the following criteria: an established process for identification of current student veterans; a veteran-specific website; an active student veteran organization or club; veteran-specific career services, resources, advising, and/or outcome monitoring; on-campus veterans’ coordinator and/or designated staff point of contact; a system to evaluate and award academic credit based on prior military training and experience; and monitoring and evaluation of student veteran academic retention, progress and graduation rates. To rank at the gold level, colleges and universities must fulfill at least six of the categories. Olivet meets the criteria of 15 categories.

Olivet College is one of 41 schools ranked at the gold level, and the College has earned the gold-level ranking consecutively since the 2017-18 academic year.

“Olivet College recognizes and honors the sacrifices that U.S. service members make in the defense of our great nation. The College is dedicated to assisting veterans, guardsmen, reservists and others receiving U.S. military benefits in making a successful transition to the college community. We know the value student-veterans bring to Olivet College and we provide continued resources to build advocacy and understanding for our student-veterans,” said Leslie Sullivan, registrar and VA certifying official. “We sincerely thank these brave men and women for their service in the Armed Forces, and now we are honored to serve them in their educational endeavors.”

In addition, Olivet College was also announced as a 2022-23 Top 10 Gold-Level Military Friendly® School by Viqtory Media. The College ranked fourth in the category of private schools not offering a doctorate degree.
