About the Program

Our financial planning major will prepare you for a rewarding career in helping others plan for their financial security, give you practical experience in preparing and presenting a financial plan, and prepare you for the life and health insurance agents’ licensing examination administered by the state of Michigan.

Careers in Financial Planning

  • Wealth Manager

    Wealth management firms offer investment management and comprehensive financial advice. Wealth managers handle complex financial issues and coordinate financial experts on behalf of clients.

  • Personal Financial Planner

    Personal financial planners assess the financial needs of individuals and help them with decisions on investments, tax laws and insurance. Advisers help clients plan for short- and long-term goals, such as meeting education expenses and saving for retirement through investments.

  • Budget Analyst

    Budget analysts prepare budget reports and monitor spending. They help public and private organizations plan their finances by preparing budget reports and monitoring organizational spending.

  • Financial Advisor

    A financial advisor is a professional who provides financial services to clients based on their financial situation.
