Helping people to have fun and to learn through leisure activity is a rewarding career. With this major, you will be prepared for a career as an athletic team manager, college athletic administrator, sports agent, sports event coordinator and more. You might find that you have an interest in working with special populations on their fitness needs.

Careers in Sports/Recreation Management

  • Athletic Director

    Athletic directors work for colleges and high schools managing all the aspects of the school's athletic program. They also act as a facility manager, overseeing the sports facility, hiring staff and developing game schedules.

  • Sports Agent

    A sports agent is a legal representative for professional sports figures such as athletes and coaches. They procure and negotiate employment and endorsement contracts for the athlete or coach whom they represent.

  • Sports Event Planner

    Sporting event planners arrange details involved in preparing for an event. They coordinate with teams of varying sizes to guarantee that every aspect of the sporting event runs smoothly.

  • Facility Coordinator

    A facility coordinator is responsible for planning, overseeing and directing the operations, services, staff and activities of an assigned recreation program area.
