Director of Admissions
Jared Stratz has worked in Olivet College admissions since 2014, and has spearheaded many different projects in his years of service. Currently, Jared serves as the director of admissions and recruits students from northern and western Michigan, as well as all out-of-state students. Also, he works with departments across campus to help create a seamless transition for new students to Olivet. He is the New Student Orientation coordinator, works directly with coaches as the athletic liaison and interfaces with the Student Services department as the financial aid liaison.
“I always knew that I wanted to help people and work in higher education — and life in admissions allows me to do both,” Jared said. “Building relationships is the most important part of the college search process, and I love connecting with students and their families to share the OC story. I want to help make a lasting impression, and I enjoy every minute of it.”
Jared graduated from a private, liberal arts college in 2012 with a degree in environmental studies and geology. He started his journey at Olivet as an admissions representative recruiting for the Natural and Physical Sciences.
Previously, he was employed as the head museum curator for the Bruce Dice Mineralogical Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Through this experience, Jared became deeply rooted in working with high school and college students. He believes that once you find a career you love, you won’t work a day in your life.
“I was the first one in my family to go to college and education became a very powerful tool as I grew from student to professional,” Jared said. “I want to equip every student I meet with the these tools to be successful and show them the power of an Olivet College education.”
