Joey Shepherd is the director of first-year transition support and academic accommodations. He also serves as an adjunct instructor and coordinates Self and Community, the first-year experience course at OC. As a key member in the Student Success Center, Joey is responsible for coordinating academic accommodations, directing the Peer Tutoring program and supporting incoming students during their first year. Joey is a first-generation college student himself, and he is especially proud to help other first-gen students reach their goal of earning a college degree. Before coming to Olivet, Joey gained experience in admissions, housing, residence life, student conduct adjudication, student affairs and diversity/multicultural affairs.
“I like working at Olivet College because I get to work directly with students on a daily basis. As the director of academic accommodations, I support students with disabilities, disorders and/or impairments. Each student I work with has unique needs, and I take great pride in providing these students with the tools and resources they need to succeed and thrive at OC. Also, I am passionate about teaching and appreciate the ability to teach some courses in addition to my administrative/staff positions,” Joey said.
