Lisa J. Furman, Ph.D., is the associate dean for academic quality at Olivet College where she oversees accreditation, compliance and academic assessment initiatives at the College. She is a member of the Peer Corps Review for the Higher Learning Commission, and she is a graduate of the Olivet College Leadership Academy. During her tenure at Olivet College, Dr. Furman has previously served in the roles of director of bands and assistant professor of music, and she led the College’s teacher preparation program as the director of education.
Prior to her appointment at Olivet College, Dr. Furman taught middle and high school instrumental music in Michigan for East Jackson Community Schools and remains an active public school colleague, presenter and clinician, and she is the immediate past-president of the Michigan Music Education Association. Dr. Furman earned her Ph.D. and master’s degree in music education from the University of Michigan, and she completed her Bachelor of Music Education at Michigan State University.
